2008 Festival Dedications: Joe Zawinul & Michael Brecker
 |
The 2008 JGB Syracuse Jazz Fest is respectfully Dedicated to the loving memory and lasting legacy of jazz pioneers Joe Zawinul and Michael Brecker, who, together, incorporated world music rhythms and elements, and brought funk, soul and R & B grooves to jazz - forever and brilliantly, changing the direction and construct of the modern jazz idiom. Their immeasurable contributions and individual artistry and genius, coupled with their recent untimely passings, have forever left a void in jazz that will never be filled. We proudly add their names to the list below of those artists and advocates, who have been previously been honored by the festival for their inestimable contributions to our music and culture. |
