The Nottingham Band has a rich history of musical excellence dating back to 1921, the school's opening. Nottingham has a vibrant music program that has evolved over the years to become an integral part of the school's curricular offerings. The band has established a legacy of excellence through their performances at the yearly NYSSMA Major Ensemble Contests, in which they have received Gold ratings every year they have gone in the past 8 years. In recent years, the band has performed as a Jazz Band at the Fonda Fultonville Jazz Festival and received Gold ratings and the "Best Rhythm Section" award.
Nottingham HS Band's proud conductor/leader/teacher is music educator Mr. Eric Petit-McClure, has been passionately teaching instrumental music at Nottingham HS since 2016 and joyfully inspiring students for 18 years! In addition to his time in Syracuse, NY, he was an instrumental music teacher in Prince George's County, MD, and Austin, TX. Everywhere his career has taken him, his ensembles exemplify his passion for musical performance excellence, creating equity for all students, and for inspiring life-long music lovers! He is a freelance trombonist, loves teaching and performing jazz music, and plays soccer! Eric lives in Syracuse, NY, with his wife, Sara, his daughters, Phoenix and Amira, and their numerous pets!
